• Teeth Whitening

  • Should you have professional treatment or use an at-home bleaching system?

Dental whitening can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining or aging.

Bleaching can be performed by a dentist in the office or at home. The Academy of General Dentistry recommends dentist supervision for any whitening treatment. Although over-the-counter treatments are less expensive, they may require a longer treatment period, and the risks of gum irritation or damage to previous dental work are increased. If you want quicker and more reliable results, please ask us about in-office whitening.

In-office whitening may require more than one visit to our office. Results from a dentist-supervised whitening procedure can last anywhere from one to five years (depending on your eating, drinking or smoking habits). It’s safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to whiten your teeth. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much you show when you talk and smile

In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice.

Tooth enamel comes in different shades and may change over time. While there are a variety of methods available that can help whiten teeth, they might not all be right for you.

If you’d like to whiten your teeth, the dental professionals at Foothill Dental Group are more than happy to review all of your options with you. We’ve been helping patients in Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and the surrounding areas for years get the white smiles they’ve always wanted.
